Season 3 Episode 8 Quotes

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

Billy: (raising his glass) I love this life.
Tim: What? That’s not a cheers, that’s thinking out loud.
Jason: To money!
Billy: To being bad ass real estate guys!

Tim (Tim eyes a Paul Stewart suit for Jason): What’s the damage on this guy?

Julie (after she gets her dad to consider moving Matt to wide receiver): So me being your girlfriend…does that entitle me to like ten percent of your endorsements?
Matt: No it doesn’t.
Julie: We should set up a contract now.

Tami (Discussing the house she wants to buy): Pretty great, right?
Eric: Honey, as much as I would love to give this to you, and the kids, and myself…it’s a beautiful house. It’s a lot of money. If we did this I wouldn’t sleep I would be so worried. It would bury me. We can’t do this. I’m sorry.
Tami: I don’t need this house. I don’t. Cuz I got you and I got Jules, and Gracie Bell. And I have the best life. I don’t need this house.

Jason: When success is essential to keeping a family together there is nothing a man won’t do. Nothing.

College Admissions Interviewer: Tell me a little about yourself.
Tyra: Well, I’m from Dillon. I’m seventeen. And I would love to go to college.

Tim (after Jason tells him he’s going to New York): Why would you want to leave Texas?
Jason: Cuz it isn’t about Texas anymore. It’s about Noah and Erin.

Wendell: Jason, there’s no one else like you, man.
Jason: Yeah, I’m counting on that.

Tim: Hey J6? Um, I hope you get everything… (exhales) I hope you get everything you want. But no matter what happens in there, you’re always gonna be my best friend, and you deserve to be happy.
Jason: Thank you…Texas forever.
Tim: Texas forever.

Season 3 Episode 8 Recap

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

After making a profit on the Garrity house Jason decides to go to New York to meet with Wendell’s sports agent Grant and ask for a job so that he can be closer to Erin and Noah. Tim agrees to go with Jason as his traveling companion. Jason shows up at Grant’s office unannounced and finds out that Wendell strung Grant along and then didn’t sign with him because another bigger sports agency competitively recruited him and Wendell stopped returning Grant’s phone calls. Jason finds out that Grant was only interested in him because of his relationship with Wendell. Tim suggests that Jason pay Wendell a visit and try to talk him into signing with Grant in the hopes that it will give Jason some leverage for an entry level position with Grant’s agency. The plan works, and Jason asks Erin to move in with him and Noah, to which she says yes. Tim and Jason have a heartfelt goodbye that results in “Texas forever”.
Tami via Katie McCoy finds her dream house which is a little more than she and Eric can afford. Eric looks at the house with Tami twice, seriously considers it, but then admits that the mortgage would keep him up nights and that overall it’s too much of a stretch for them. Tami thanks him for actually considering the entire thing.
Matt is becoming frustrated that receivers on the team can’t read the routes when he knows them all by heart. He talks to Julie about maybe becoming a receiver, then talks to Coach Taylor about it. Coach Taylor shoots down the idea immediately because if Matt got hurt then he would be out a back up quarterback. Matt gets even more frustrated that he could actually get some playing time. During dinner at the Taylor house Julie asks her dad to give Matt a shot, and Matt and the Coach agree to run ten routes out in the yard and if Matt can make all of them then the Coach will consider it. Matt makes nine out of nine, and then the Coach tosses him a bad pass, so the Coach decides to give him a shot at practice, which goes really well. Earlier in the episode Coach Mac collapses on the field due to some sort of heart condition, which results in Coach Taylor reluctantly hiring J.D. McCoy’s personal coach to fill Mac’s spot temporarily.
Tyra’s boyfriend Cash is about to leave for a six month Rodeo tour and admits to her that it will be hard for him to be faithful to her on the road. Tyra is dealing with this revelation before her first college interview, which only goes okay. This results in Tyra deciding to ditch school and go on the road with Cash for a while. It seems like she is not going to fill out any of her college applications.

Season 3 Episode 7 Quotes

Jason: What’s been your favorite memory of your brother playing football?
Billy: Probably watching him get that ring back in ‘06. Yeah, after all we’ve been through together, um, to see him win state, that was, that was probably the happiest day of my life. I was just really proud of him.

Jason: What single characteristic as a football player do you think defines Tim Riggins?
Coach Taylor: Toughness. I have never seen a kid with more fortitude than Tim Riggins. No fear.

Landry: Mrs. Taylor, can I ask you like…can I talk to you a second?
Tami: Sure.
Landry: I’m starting to feel like I have some sort of repellent that repels females away and sends them running.
Tami: Mmhmm.
Landry: I was in love with Tyra for a long time and I chased her away and then there was another girl and I completely chased her away…it was a lot quicker.
Tami: Here’s the thing, and I know it’s probably not easy to see here in Dillon, but you are at the beginning of your life. A lot of these football heroes around here, they’re not gonna get much farther than this. But you’re gonna go to some great college and have a career that you love. And I’m telling you right now, women are gonna flock to you. I know it’s hard to believe, but that’s how it’s gonna work. You’re a good person and this is just the beginning. I’m right one hundred percent of the time. You can ask my husband.

Landry: (about learning his new “girlfriend”is actually gay) Okay, I’m gonna go let this sink in because I don’t know how to react right now.

Jason: Do you think I could make it somewhere else? Like as a sports agent? Do you think I’d be good at it?
Lyla: You’re leaving.
Jason: I didn’t say that.
Lyla: You didn’t have to. I think you’d be a great sports agent.

Season 3 Episode 7 Recap

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

Buddy struggles when Lyla’s siblings come to visit for the weekend and all they want to talk about is their new stepdad, how they’re vegetarian, and how they think all of Buddy’s ideas (camping, miniature golfing) are lousy. They finally come around and stop complaining when they attend the Friday night game as a family.
Herc, Jason, Billy and Tim receive fantastic news when, after a rough time at their open house, they receive an offer on their house at asking price!
Billy gets advice from Jason on how to attract recruiters to Tim and makes a video tape of all of Tim’s best plays, and interviews the coach and himself.
One of the Panthers gets reprimanded by Tami at school for “accidentally” setting a fire in science lab involving his lab partner. The Panther’s name is Jamarca and Tami brings in his parents for a meeting because this is not the first disciplinary action against him. She tells his parents that he might be suspended from some football games and his parents tell Tami that they never gave him permission to play football. Apparently he forged his parents’ signature. Coach Taylor gets mad at Tami for not consulting with him first prior to meeting with the parents, but Tami is able to sweet talk his parents into coming to a game to witness what a great player their son is. They become convinced that they should allow him to play because he has a gift.
Landry kisses his new bandmate and is so elated at this new prospect that he tells Tyra that he has a new girlfriend and that they should try to be friends again. Landry soon finds out that his new bandmate is actually gay and she was trying to be polite by kissing him back.
Coach Taylor and Tami have dinner at the McCoy household, and Coach Taylor witnesses the interesting dynamic between Mr. McCoy and JD. Coach Taylor confronts JD about his overbearing dad and tells him that he should just have some fun with the game. Coach ends up having to tell Mr. McCoy to back off at practice and at halftime.
Jason bumps into an old Panther player who has just signed with an NFL team. Jason meets the player’s agent, and Jason gets his business card and is encouraged to contact the sports agent if he is ever in New York City. Jason realizes that this could be a great opportunity after he sells the house, and asks Lyla her advice as to whether she thinks he could make it somewhere else. Lyla is sad at the idea of Jason leaving, but tells him that she thinks he should go for it, and be closer to his family.
The Panthers pull off a win in a very tight game, due to JD having an off night. JD’s dad leaves the game in disgust, and JD rides home with his mom…she suggests they stop and have some junk food on the way home.

Billy (Looking at the to-do list that Jason has just made them for the house): Why do we have to do all the stuff upstairs?
Jason (sitting in his wheelchair next to Herc): I’m gonna pretend you didn’t just ask that.

Jason: What are you doing out of school? (to Billy) What did you write him a note or something?
Tim: I told them I was pregnant. Need a few days to relax.

Tyra: A woman showed up at my house with a baby looking for child support from Cash.
Julie: It could be worse.
Tyra: Really? I don’t see how it could get worse.
Julie: She could be his sister.
Tyra: Sounds like something Landry would say.
