Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

International electro-pop breakthrough band Metro Station will be releasing their first new music since the release of their self-titled debut album, which has sold over 380,000 units in the U.S. along with 3.5 million digital tracks.

The new Kelsey EP will include both an acoustic version of the fan-favorite title track “Kelsey,” and a Walter Meego remix of the song. The EP will also introduce fans to two new songs, “Time To Play” and “Japanese Girl” – the latter of which the band is performing on their current tour with Miley Cyrus. These four tracks plus the “Kelsey” music video will be included on the EP which will be sold exclusively at iTUNES for just $3.99.

The music video for “Kelsey” stars Aimee Teegarden from the TV series “Friday Night Lights,” and will premiere on TeenNick (formerly The ‘N’) this Friday, October 2nd at 3pm as part of the network’s Degrassi Marathon.

Metro Station – Trace Cyrus (vocals, guitar), Mason Musso (vocals, guitar), Blake Healy (keyboards, synth) and Anthony Improgo (percussion) – are currently on a U.S. arena tour with pop superstar Miley Cyrus. The tour began on September 14 in Portland, OR, and will end in Miami, FL on December 2.

Connie Britton is a Favorite with Ausiello

Posted by Amy with No Comments

This is an interview with Ausiello from Entertainment Weekly. Very interesting to see it from his perspective this time!

Who has been your favorite interview to date?

It’s hard to say “to date” but my most recent favorite interview was Lucy Lawless at Comic Con. I did an interview with her talking about Spartacus and it kind of went into a place I never expected and we were suddenly talking about merkins. I wasn’t familiar with what a merkin was, so Lucy Lawless gave me kind of a crash course on it. I had so much fun doing that interview and that was one of those times where it didn’t feel like work to me. It was just one of those times where it I felt like I was just sitting back talking to someone, having a great time, and I was really proud of how the interview came out. I just had a really good time watching that interview. It was just a lot of fun and I think that my favorite interviews are with the people that I have relationships with. I love talking to Connie Britton, I love talking to Neil Patrick Harris, I love talking to someone like Amy Sherman Palladino from Gilmore Girls, who is just a nut and that’s what I love about her. She’s just so unpredictable and she’s someone you can just have fun with and those are my favorite interviews. Ana Ortiz, pretty much the whole cast of Ugly Betty, really. It’s really hard to single out one. I love talking to J.J. Abrams, someone who I’ve just had a long relationship with, dates back to the Felicity days.

Scott Porter in “Battlestar Galactica” Prequel “Caprica”

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

Caprica,” a new drama from Syfy, will make the film-festival rounds before it debuts on Jan. 22.

Caprica1

The two-hour “Caprica” pilot, which was written by Ronald D. Moore and Remi Aubuchon and directed by “Friday Night Lights” veteran Jeffrey Reiner, will be screened at the San Diego Film Festival, the Woodstock Film Festival and the Austin Film Festival this fall.

Dates for the screenings are as follows:

  • San Diego Film Festival, Sept. 26
  • Woodstock Film Festival, Oct. 2 and Oct. 4
  • Austin Film Festival, Oct. 24 (there will be a screening as well as panel discussions from Reiner and star Esai Morales)

“Caprica” is a prequel series that takes place five decades before the events of “Battlestar Galactica.” It follows two rival families, the Adamas and the Greystones, and no previous “Battlestar” knowledge is required to watch the new show. “This …standalone series will feature the passion, intrigue, political backbiting, and family conflict in an omnipotent society that is at the height of its blind power and glory…and, unknowingly, on the brink of its fall,” according to a description from Syfy.

Moore talks a bit about the project, which also stars Paula Malcolmson, Eric Stoltz and Polly Walker as powerful members of Caprican society, in this video.

Patton Oswalt, James Marsters and “FNL” alum Scott Porter have all been cast in recurring guest roles on “Caprica,” which also has several “BSG” alumni on its writing and production staffs.

Kevin Rankin Talks About Friday Night Lights

Posted by Amy with No Comments

You probably know Kevin Rankin from his role as Herc on the series Friday Night Lights but starting tonight, he’ll be on the other side of the wheelchair when he takes on the role of a paramedic in the new NBC series Trauma.

Kevin joined me on the phone last week to talk about both his past glories and his future on TV.

Cyn: I always look forward to your performances on Friday Night Lights; really where I got to know you’re work. Could just tell me a little bit about that experience?

Kevin: First of all, the heavens opened up and delivered that character to me. I know that they were reading real quadriplegics from across the country and I’d seen the documentary Murder Ball. I knew what they wanted and I’d shake my head, went in, read the full-on character, you know the character wasn’t originally southern, I gave him an accent and gave him a lot of bravado and got called two days later and I was on a plane to Austin, Texas.

They put me right into rehab, right when I got there, and I stayed in a handicap hotel room. I went out on Sixth Street, there in Austin, with other quads in a wheelchair and sort of lived the life for the month that I was there and it was an unbelievable experience. The character was only supposed to be in about three episodes but they kept inviting me back and just sort of, took on a life of its own and I could not be happier with that. I mean, as far as I’m concerned at this point, it gave me a career.

Cyn: I understand the disabled community really appreciated the performance. It was quite unusual for what we’re used to seeing on television.

Kevin: Definitely. Of course, just being with some of the real quads, I was able to physically take on some characteristics. But my main goal was to play Herc in a way to where you may have seen him roll in, in that chair, but really fast did you forget he was in that chair. You know, really fast you, might as well imagine him, he walked in and sat down; he didn’t roll in here. And that was really important for me to portray it that way, to show that’s only one small thing about this guy, that he can’t walk. And that was really important to us, and I can’t tell you how happy it makes me that we were received the way we were with the handicap community.
