DVRplayground: The Top 10 TV Shows of 2009

Posted by Amy with No Comments

4. Never have I cried, laughed, and cheered alongside a television show. After a wider-audience pandering sophomore effort, this hearty, kicky drama about a high school football team (and the coach and his wife, played by TV’s greatest couple, Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton) in small-town Dillon, Texas turned out a fantastic third season that let us say goodbye to old favorites (Street! Smash! Lyla!) and wait breathlessly for new ones.

Starpulse Names FNL in Top 5 TV Dramas

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

1. “Friday Night Lights

For the longest time “Friday Night Lights” was always overrated. Through its first two seasons it was good (though sometimes ludicrous with the killings and all) but never quite what critics made it out to be. Then, this year (with its third season on NBC) it became better than anyone had ever mentioned. Suddenly, this show ditched all its melodrama in favor of real emotion and gritty realism that actually raised stakes higher than an hour full of exaggeration ever could. And the performances are something that really make the show stand out. Nobody is doing better work on television than Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton is every bit his equal. The fourth season just started on DirecTV and it’s just as good as the third. It’s amazing what a back-to-basics approach can do for a series.

InsideTV: Taylor Kitsch Makes TV’s Top Shirtless Guy Moments of 2009

Posted by Amy with No Comments

4. Taylor Kitsch Tim Riggins, ‘Friday Night Lights’He’s a bad, bad boy, but we love him even more because of it. Taylor Kitsch has said in interviews that people like to live vicariously through his character, scrappy football player Tim Riggins. While we don’t know about that, some of us wouldn’t mind living vicariously through Lyla Garrity or whomever he happens to be with at any particular moment.
