Great podcast again! Really enjoyed this one as Derek is friends with Taylor Kitsch.

This episode was another heavy, heavy one. A plot transition for the final two, so it didn’t leave us with much satisfaction … just more angst. Ratcheted up a notch for good measure, the way FNLs loves to go into a season finale.

I’m getting to where I need some of the Taylors’ wine just to get through an episode!

As in past weeks, may I just say that I’m not loving the Landry/Jess ship. Frankly, I’m rooting for Vince. I just hope Landry comes through in a big way for the upcoming Panther/Lions game!!

I haven’t had a chance yet to listen to this week’s podcast, but one thing that I can’t let go of, and that I hope y’all discussed is the fact that it was Becky’s mom that wanted her to get the abortion and the one that drove her to get the abortion. Tammy only told Becky her options.

What is it that Becky said to Luke’s mom? And what is it about scenes with Becky and Luke or Luke’s family that we don’t get to see? We only learn about the fallout, so we never get to see what actually was said or what actually happened.

I don’t see why they have to give all of this abuse to Tammy, unless Becky said the wrong thing, or Luke’s mom completely misinterpreted what Becky told her. I can see maybe that Becky only mentioned Tammy and didn’t mention her mom to protect her in some way, since she’s her mom. But still! This is one storyline that doesn’t make sense, and only seems like it can be corrected by Becky or Becky’s mom setting the record straight on Tammy’s behalf.

This just seems like the most contrived and ridiculous plot point/storyline on FNL I’ve seen, since season 2.

There were other parts of the episode that are well worth talking about, but this one incensed me so much that I’m having trouble focusing on everything else. Especially when they had Tammy say in her discussion with the board, “Becky’s mom drove her to get the abortion,” and I wish she had repeated it, so it would stick, yet no one is then questioning Becky’s mom to see if Tammy is correct. Ridiculous!

Rebecca Jill: Yes, they did discuss this in the podcast with the same questions you have. There are no answers … the point being that both sides of this issue can become ridiculous if given enough time and money and forum.

As you said, Tami didn’t do anything wrong, but she’ll end up being the lightening rod and I fear poor Becky will be the fallout.

Luke’s mom and the Board member already had their minds made up before there ever was a Board meeting, and I think Tami knew there was nothing she could say that would change their minds. She could only appeal to the other members.

I have now listened to the podcast; I just had that initial reaction after watching the show before I had a chance to listen to the podcast.

Someone’s comments at another blog made sense in the fact that abortion was even an option that Tammy as a school official mentioned. And that shouldn’t even be an option to be discussed.

Yet, it’s still villifying Tammy as the school official, as if this was only adult Becky spoke with and interacted with this, and we as the viewers know that’s not the case; it’s as if Becky doesn’t even have a mom. That’s just my frustration with this storyline, and it’s blowing up into a bigger deal that it really needed to be.

But I get frustrated in general, since the show is so great, yet it’s like they’re trying to squeeze a 22-episode season storyline arc into a 13-episode season. Y’all on the podcast always say well, we didn’t get to see this character or that character this episode, and those are valid points. Yet we can only get so many good well-told storylines into a 13-episode season without short-shifting them, and they already seem to be to a point. Hence us not getting to see Becky talk to Luke’s mom or other stories occuring a lot quicker than we think they should. Though I could see us not getting that scene in a 22-episode season, as well, but a 22-episode season would lend itself more to us actually getting to see that.
