Jeanne Jakle: Anticipation for ‘Friday Night Lights’ gala

Posted by Amy with 1 Comment

How big a fan of TV’s Friday Night Lights is B.J. “Red” McCombs?

“On a scale of one to 10, I’m a hundred,” the S.A. car dealer, former Spurs and Minnesota Vikings owner and all-around community leader quipped in a phone chat. He and wife Charline never miss an episode, McCombs said, adding it's “so realistic, so Texas.”

No wonder McCombs wanted to get behind the Season 4 red-carpet premiere of NBC's “Friday Night Lights.” It will be April 24 at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country resort. The gala screening will present the first two episodes before NBC's premiere April 30. Many cast members are expected to attend.

The night's host will be the Gridiron Heroes Spinal Cord Injury Foundation. Based in Schertz, the organization is dedicated to providing resources and support to individuals who have sustained catastrophic spinal cord injuries through activities associated with high school football. At its heart is founder Eddie Canales. He and son Chris are friends with show creator Peter Berg and frequent visitors to the “Lights” set near Austin.

TV Guide Reports Scott Porter/Street Likely Back for Season 5

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

Friday Night Lights alum Scott Porter says he’s heard from the show’s producers that his paraplegic character, Jason Street, will likely be wheeling back to Dillon, Texas for the show’s soon-to-shoot, fifth and likely final season. “I’m hoping it turns into a definite because I’d love to go back,” says Scott. “I’m hoping he could repay his debts – particularly to Riggins for everything he did for Street.”

Tim Riggins (Taylor Kitsch) sure could use some help, as the current season (SPOILER ALERT!) Read the rest of this entry »

Cornell’s Basketball Team Bonds Over Film Version of Friday Night Lights

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

Foote predicted at the start of the season that his team would make the Sweet 16, and Cornell became the first Ivy League school since Penn made the Final Four in 1979 to advance to the second weekend. No one on the team seems all that surprised by the development.

“It really doesn’t matter who we’re playing,” forward Jon Jacques said. “We’re confident in ourselves. Our confidence is definitely growing each game.”

So is their goofiness. The players have been joking around all weekend, displaying the comfort of a group making its third straight trip to March Madness. The team watched “Friday Night Lights” on Saturday night and told Dale he had to work a quote from the movie into his postgame press conference. Dale pulled it off, while his teammates erupted with laughter while watching him on a TV in the locker room.

Does that kind of stuff happen a lot?

“Well, we don’t usually have many press conferences,” Dale said.

Connie Britton’s New Role

Posted by Amy with 1 Comment

This is unconfirmed and on a web site we don’t normally link to but I don’t know, could be true?  If so, that would put Connie and Adrianne’s boyfriend in the same show.  I smell a guest star!

TV faves Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights, Spin City), Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Dollhouse), Eric Balfour (24, The OC), Moon Bloodgood (Journeyman) and Monica Keena (Dawson’s Creek, Undeclared) have joined the cast of the ensemble drama Conception.

The film, starring Gregory Smith, Julie Bowen, Jennifer Finnigan and Jonathan Silverman, is currently lensing in Los Angeles, and tells of nine couples who struggle with romance and pregnancy.

Famed Hollywood screenwriter Josh Stolberg (Piranha, Sorority Row) is directing from his own script.
