IESB Talks to Scott Porter about Caprica, Friday Night Lights & The Good Guy

IESB: I understand that you’ll be in a new TV show as a lead actor.

Scott: Yeah, we just shot a pilot in Thailand for CW called Nomads. It’s about these backpackers in Southeast Asia there for various reasons. Mine happens to be looking for his brother who has disappeared six months ago. He gets roped into running illegal information for the CIA. Until one day, my character gets taken and interrogated, so he gets drawn into being more than just being a runner for the CIA. It’s a conspiracy action show. It’s going to be very cool.

IESB: It’s like a drama spy show?

Scott: It’s not so much like a spy show. The pilot is like Marathon Man where Dustin Hoffman gets taken and doesn’t know why he has been taken at that point in time. It’s that type of show. He gets roped into this weird group of people, who has been working with the CIA and not actual agents. And he is in the part of a world where he shouldn’t be there. It will slowly unravel and explain on why everyone is there. It’s more kind of Alias without the superspy. Lots of question marks. Lots of cool actions.

IESB: When is Nomads supposed to premiere?

Scott: We’ll know on May 20 whether we get picked up for a series or not. We shot the pilot and it looks gorgeous. Now we just sit and wait.

IESB: Talk about your role on Friday Night Lights.

Scott: Jason Street wasn’t around in the fourth season, but he is coming back in the fifth season to make a closing appearance on the last year of the show. We knew at the end of season three that we were going to get another twenty-six episodes. We had the ability to know that the end is coming and to write for that. So we’re giving our fans closure with every person that has been on the show. I’m excited to see everyone come back. Jason Street will come back for a few episodes.
