WSJ: ‘Friday Night Lights’ Finale: Taylor Kitsch on Life Beyond the Show

The Wall Street Journal: When my wife and I watched the recent episode where Tim Riggins said that he basically had life all figured out, we sighed because we knew something horrible was about to happen to you.

Taylor Kitsch: Yeah, I think you can see that one coming maybe.

Is it hard to let a great character like Tim Riggins go?

It’s very tough, I think playing him for so long, you get to develop so many more layers than a small thing in a movie. I was very connected, y’know? I think he’s just a special character to have played. You get all these letters from older people and therapists who use him as a prime example of a young guy who’s trying to find his purpose. And that’s when it hits home, when you get those kind of things.

You’re talking about Riggins in the past tense. In the coming fifth and final season, will you be a regular on the show?

No, I’m only in four episodes in season five. They let me go do “John Carter of Mars.” It’s done, it’s officially over
