Kaitlin, Amy. I could not sign up for a 2 year contract w/Direct TV *wailing* … so your podcasts are my lifeline this final season and are the next best thing.
Great to hear ‘Expectations’ was solid and met yours. With only 13 eps left until its all over, the writers are going to be challenged w/pacing and moving forward with the story lines of all these characters we have grown to know and love and do them all justice.
I’d like to just throw it out there that the prison experience may change Tim … and maybe not all for the better. I’m hoping he addresses his drinking (the show probably won’t) during his incarceration so he an become the man we’d all love to see him become.
What more to talk about? The music. What music did they play?
Hi Girls- really enjoyed your take on Season 5.1. Totally agree with the whole Julie leaving for college w/ only the drive way goodbye….so not like Tami T! And what college is she going to? It’s gotta be in state, but come on FNL, we need to know! Which I know we will at some point….
Best scene for me was Landry/Grandma Saracen for sure, so awesome & sweet.
Did notice Coaches unusual pretty boy haircut, was Kyle filming Super 8 at the same time? Just wondering, it almost looked like a military cut.
Looking forward to sharing the season with you girls, keep up the great work!
I totally agree with you guys that the episode was solid, but not exceptional. I can not believe that I didn’t cry at all! Last season, I think I cried at least once an episode!
I do miss the original characters on the show and not that I want this season to rush by, but I am really looking forward to seeing some of the original cast members again. I still have not bonded with any of the new characters yet (Becky still drives me bonkers), but there is hope with Hastings. I think his number is 88. I was bummed there wasn’t more Luke in this episode as he is probably my favorite new character.
Last thing, I loved seeing a different side of Tim. It was like he was very bitter at everyone. He had many reasons to be bitter in seasons past, but he always shrugged it off with a beer. Now I think he is like, “My life really does suck.”
No suggestions on the podcast – I just really enjoying listening to it!
i didn’t know a fnl podcast existed! awesome! will keep listening for sure
also you can in fact call Hastings 8s if you like. also becky and luke flirt in the opening title. they’ll for sure be hooking back up this season.
You should go back and listen to the interviews we did during last season…Landry and Buddy were definitely my faves…well, they’re all my faves, but something about those Texas boys..they’re charming!
One of the little things that I loved in this episode was the guy at the Crucifictorius gig who was wearing a Crucifictorius t-shirt.
Howdy gals.. miss y’all!
So I filmed at Buddy’s bar and it the THE PLACE to be in season 5 so that it fun.. your are so right, everyone needs a place to get together.
Hastings is a scene stealer and a very sweet guy in real life! He really did bring the charater to life in just one episode. I agree with y’all about Julie. I wish they would have been a little more emotional. I mean, she is the only child! But we will see plenty of julie this season so I think they will redeem themselvs.
This season’s writing was just, AMAZING. I will never forget my time on set and I can’t wait to see how all the scenes we did, come together.
ps. Kaitlin- I loved Landry in the entire episode.
) And that grandma scene was touching. It is nice to see that FNL values the relationships and maintains them.
Good stuff ladies. Come visit Austin again!
oops forfive my typos.. arghh and I meant Julie is the OLDEST child.. and first to send off to college.. even if it is down the road.. fun fact, I used o live off the road that FNL names as Julie’s fictional college.. lol .. they always find a way to attribute Austin to Dillon life.
Great pod cast ladies! I enjoyed the first episode as well. My only complaint was Billy becoming a coach. One of the reasons I have loved FNL so much is the realism the writers produce each episode. Besides the whole murder plot in season two, they have done a great job of portraying life in Texas. But bringing in Billy as a coach is about as believable as the murder plot. It would be against UIL rules (our states athletic comm.) to bring in someone who was not a certified teacher to coach. All sorts of rules would be broken by him even helping out. Only private schools, not under state guidelines, would be able to do this. I know in the big scheme of things on the show it’s not that big a deal, just offering my two cents.
Have a great week and keep up the good work!!
Billy’s a coach?
Great podcast, I know she isn’t a favorite but my prediction on Becky is she doesn’t stay long with the Riggins but eventually moves in with the Taylors. It may be a stretch but it was the first thing I thought when she left and then watched Julie leave.
Nice podcast! You probably already looked it up, but Hastings Ruckle is #88.
That’s a really interesting fact about coaching in Texas…you don’t have to be a certified teacher (or certified anything really) in order to coach school sports in Massachusetts. You only have to pass a CORI check. You’re just a wealth of info, Mark!
