I think you all were a little TOO whiny in this podcast, no offense. lol It wasn’t my favorite episode by any sense of the word, but it wasn’t terrible.
First off,
Vince- I like his character more and more, and the acting by Michael tonight was phenomenal!! I have the best of expectations for Vince, I just hope he can see them through and become even more successful then Smash.
Tami- She speech in the cafeteria gave me chills, she knows how to make people listen and really soak in the situation. She is having a rough go at it right now though.
Jess- Meh…not much going on here really, I’m not a big fan of her eq manager job either.
Luke, Hastings, and Becky- MIA basically.
Tinker- LOL he wants some bacon.
Coach- Really didn’t do a whole lot, but I loved his scene with Vince.
And now…
JULIE!!!! UGHHHH! Who thought it would be a good idea to stick her with some other guy for the final season, as a huge Matt and Julie fan I am disgusted. I have even heard people offer the idea that he MAY get her pregnant….that would ruin her character 100%. They could do so much better with Julie then this!! I agree, come back MATT!!!
Btw, does anyone else agree that they just really can’t wait for Tim, Matt, Landry, Tyra, and Street to show up again? I miss them so much!
Maybe it’s because I know this is the last season, and there are only 9 episodes left … but I’m LOVING this season. And I loved this episode, too.
Last week, I said I thought it could end up being Kyle’s Emmy submission episode (Yeah, I know. It’s early. He may have another one coming up), But I agree … THIS week was Michael B. Jordan’s week. And this could very well be HIS Emmy submission episode. He was AWESOME!!! And scenes between Vince and Coach reminded me so much of Matt and Coach, only better if only because … Vince is even more of an underdog than Matt, and it just makes everything he achieves so much sweeter. (Vince’s parents SUCK! And he doesn’t have a cool, kooky Gramma!) After the Riggins brothers with no father present, Coach Taylor really GETS IT that Vince is at such a disadvantage … coming from nowhere.
As far as the other story lines go, including Julie … I’m going to trust the writers this season. Remember how loner and stuck up she was in the Pilot? She just regressed under stress back to her lowest common denominator. (And she’s always gone for older guys. Yeah, I know. It’s gross.) Do we really have any other choice but to trust the writers? LOL I agree that this is a set-up episode. And a showcase for Vince Howard. Awesome job!!!! I’d give it an 8 for Vince alone!!!!
I’m not surprised you found the Grey’s Anatomy/FNLs connection w/Vince’s Dad (Linda Lowey, Casting Director for both shows).
I smell more Emmy noms besides Kyle and Connie and Casting.
I’m mad at the Julie situation also. You would think this is not like her. Just thinking what her and Matt had, I thought that was true love. To me their relationship was one of the most real relationships on the show! Nothing about it was fake and the stupid stuff that does happen in relationships the stuff no one wants to share was in their relationship and that’s what made it so cute and believable!!! They were kind off like Tami and Coach.
Maybe people change, maybe Julie is desperate and she feels lonely and ya ppl shouldn’t do what she has done but many do in her situation.
I pretty much agree with ya’ll on this episode. I also think expectations & anticipation was so high coming into this last…. sniff….season, that it’s going to make us more critical of weak stories like Julies. So predictable & so disappointing. Come on Julie, your a smart girl & you have an awesome Mom to draw from….ugh!
Vince totally carried the episode & the scene with Coach was a highlight for sure. I think Vince’s Dad saw his son has a good role model with Coach & stepped back. Though I do see him letting Vince down if given the chance.
Jess’ sudden equipment manager job is kinda goofy, though I can see Tammy storing that conversation she had with Jess saying she missed football & then trying to fix it….”Think about it Daddy”!
As for Buddy Jr story, I hope they keep it real & not make him into this sudden football star.
Last thing……Please give us more Taylor time….more interaction @ school like the good old days. I love when they banter off each other. So few episodes left & so much I’d like to see happen……..
