Aimee Teegarden Talks to Seventeen Magazine

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

Aimee Teegarden is reminiscing about her 17-year-old self with Seventeen mag. Check out what the now 21-year-old actress revealed:

On letting the guys chase you: “I don’t think I’ve had any crazy guy moments! [My boyfriend] definitely went out on a limb a bunch of times, but I was just like, ‘Okay, cool. Whatever.’ I definitely let him chase me. That’s how it should be with boys.”

On getting a normal teenage job in the mall: “During the second season of Friday Night Lights, I decided that I wanted to have a real job. So I started working at Hollister because one of my girlfriends worked there. It was kind of fun! People would come in and say, ‘Are you the girl fromFriday Night Lights?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah!’ And they’d be like, ‘No, you’re not.’ I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m not!’ [Laughs]”

Connie Britton Narrates New Web Series Homefront Heroes

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

A new Web series tells the real life stories of our home front heroes who have fought for our country and returned battered and broken in body but not in spirit.

britton.jpgActress Connie Britton narrates the new web series Homefront Heroes, which puts faces to names and stories to statistics of America’s wounded warriors. The actress chatted with Tonic this week about how she got involved with the webisodes, each of which highlights a soldier’s journey of healing and strength.

If you spend five minutes on the web over the holidays this week, spend them watching one of these truly inspiring videos of real life heroes struggling to rebuild their lives and achieve their dreams.

Tonic: How did you get involved with the Homefront Heroes crew?

Connie Britton: I met Mike Allen one of the guys behindHomefront Heroes a couple of years ago at a USO performance of the Rockettes. I was just really moved by what people are doing in response to our soldiers coming back injured and Mike was too. He had this brainchild of sharing these stories and making them accessible to people. I think the more intimately we can know our soldiers and the people put in harms way the more we can show them our gratitude.

HitFix’s Alan Sepinwall Reviews 5.07 “Perfect Record”

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

“Friday Night Lights” continues its exclusive run on DirecTV’s The 101 Network, Wednesdays at 9 p.m., and my review of this week’s episode is coming up just as soon as I host a morale-building barbecue…

“Don’t feel like celebrating tonight.” -Coach Crowley

Early in “Perfect Record,” Coach gives our old friend Jason Street a list of all the perfect things in his life, and while we know he’s embellishing at least the Julie part of it, that speech – and the one Vince gives Jess about how swell things are going with Ornette – is the sort a character delivers right before his life starts to turn into something very imperfect.

So, yes, the Lions are undefeated, Eric is a magazine cover subject, is being pursued for college coaching jobs (head coach this time), and in a little over a year he’s brought the East DIllon football culture back from the dead. He has the beautiful wife, the daughters, and a backyard big enough to host a 300-person barbecue.

New York Posts’ Popwrap Talks to Jurnee Smollett

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

I think every single “Friday Night Lights” fan was more than a little hesitant when the original kids departed, making room for a new crop of Dylan-ites. But the introduction of Jess, Vince, Luke and Becky has taught me a very important lesson: never doubt “FNL!”

While much of Jess’ first season (the show’s fourth) focused on her love triangle with Landry and Vince, the currently airing fifth has turned her into a much more complex — and comedic — character. Just rewatch her locker room slam session if you doubt me.

Although the gusto that has made Jess such a compelling character is simply a by-product of casting the equally spirited Jurnee Smollett, as I learned when we chatted about Jess’ journey in “FNL’s” final season, what tips she’s picking up on her other primetime gig and why she might be ringing up Denzel Washington sooner rather than later.

PopWrap: I have been loving everything “Friday Night Lights” has given Jess to do this season — have you enjoyed her arc?
Jurnee Smollett: Her arc this season has just been a blast! I love that she’s becoming more incorporated with the football team and also having this internal battle where she doesn’t feel like she fits in her skin. It’s a real struggle when you have a passion for something and people tell you, “it’s not going to happen.” It’s like you’re going against your DNA.
