Apologies for the bad sound. Matt called in from his cell and there was just no way to fix it
I hope you can ignore our VERY LOUD voices so you can hear him!
Too bad about the sound during Matt’s interview. Since all of you are Twitter buddies perhaps you all can sweet talk him into doing a follow up interview before the season ends or sometime when it runs on NBC. Lol at whoever burped in the background at 51:01. As for the episode I thought it was the best of the season so far. I think Vince’s dad will be a problem in the recruitment process but I think he will also intervene in the dispute between Vince and his former thug buddy who wants his money. Last season that character (his name I can’t remember) made a reference to Vince’s dad as if he knew him personally. That is my prediction FWIW. As for the rest it was all near perfect except of course the horrid Julie Taylor storyline. But how could you forget Billy’s slam about the older coach (can’t remember his name either) showing his G string as he was on his way out the door from the Poker game or coach’s complaining about how he couldn’t even win while cheating by looking at Coach Spivey’s cards. Anyways good podcast despite the sound issues. Hope you all are surviving the HOLIDAZE. Take care.
I couldn’t hear Matt hardly at all, mostly not at all. I have a newer laptop w/cruddy speaker volume an even cruddier headset.
For John, that was “Kennard” who is coming back. LOL He has no last name.
Not trying to be a FNLs know it all (but I am a FAN), and I’ve watched this ep 3 times already.
Observations: Mr. Rolin Jones wrote that ep, same writer as “The Son.” Emmy worthy ep for Mr. Jones, Kyle and Michael B.!!! (Connie would need to submit another.) This was on my wish list and I got it!!!
On the Vince/Coach ship … Coach is a QB coach at heart. He has a soft spot for the underdog QB just as he did for Matt. Also, Coach took a personal risk with his career for Vince that he hasn’t taken for anyone since Smash. (The gun?)
I can see why Coach has had a closer “father” relationship w/Vince that he doesn’t have with Luke that transcends football. He’s spent a lot of time with Vince.
Also, doesn’t Luke’s bragging remind you of Smash in a good way? Luke has a father at home (and parents who went after Tami). With the Dillon High Boundary scandal and then the abortion stuff, I can see why Coach keeps a safe distance from Luke. And maybe Coach doesn’t think Luke needs him because of Luke’s bravado. There are trust issue obstacles between Coach and Luke that are not all their faults. Sad.
I did not understand the infusion of “meat” in this “Boys Gone Wild” ep, but it amused me. Coach grilling bacon in his office, The “Loins” on the hotel sign, Tinker’s pork v. pig talk on the balcony, grilling hotdogs at the players party, branding for brotherhood!?
Unless it had something to do with that under-the-breath comment Coach uttered when Vince told him about TMU and Luke. “It’s a calf cow.”
Ah! Then, I looked calf cow + recruiting up on the net. Calf-cow is a deal where they recruit Luke (scholarship) only on the condition they get the prize (Vince). Part of the meat market of recruiting. Brilliant Rolin Jones!!!
I’m giving this ep a 9.75 only in case there’s a 10 yet to come. Next week’s ep is called “Swerve.”
I’m a happy fan because FINALLY, FNLs is on its way.
