Listen to Buzz Bissinger on The B.S. Report Podcast

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

Thanks to one of our terrific readers we were made aware of a podcast interview Buzz Bissinger recently did with Bill Simmons (aka ESPN’s The Sports Guy). Although he doesn’t discuss our beloved TV show, he does talk about living in Odessa Texas (Dillon’s inspiration) and the origins of the book. Interesting stuff!

Peter Berg & Buzz Bissinger Teaming Up Again

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

According to IMDb and TheMovieInsider.com Peter Berg has joined up with his cousin and Friday Night Lights author Buzz Bissinger to produce a movie based on the 2007 Vanity Fair article “Gone Like the Wind” that Bissinger wrote.

The film of the same title will portray the story of Barbaro, the horse that won the 2006 Kentucky Derby and was a front-runner to win the Triple Crown when he became crippled during an accident at the Preakness.

The film is currently listed as “in development”, but we all know the magic that can happen when Pete and Buzz collaborate. I can’t wait for this project to start, and here’s hoping for some FNL/Gone Like the Wind crossover casting!

Friday Night Lights Author Tackles Tiger

I don’t know how many of you are interested in Friday Night Lights in its entirety (book, movie AND TV show), but I’m fully invested, and have been since I tackled the book in high school. Anyway, for those of you in it full throttle like me, you might want to take note that the latest edition of the magazine Vanity Fair features an entire article on the demise of Tiger Woods written by Mr. Buzz Bissinger (the author who penned Friday Night Lights, and cousin of Peter Berg).
