Parade Magazine Chats with Connie Britton

Her time as Tami Taylor may be drawing to a close (the fifth and final season of Friday Night Lights is playing Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC), but Connie Britton, 44, isn’t giving up her cowboy boots. “When I was in Austin last, I got a pair made,” she says of the 1935-vintage replicas she calls her “Texas Forever treat.” Kate Meyers caught up with the actress at her home in the Hollywood Hills, which she shares with her two dogs.

The conventional thinking in TV is that married couples are boring. How were you and Kyle Chandler able to make a happy marriage exciting?

A lot of times when you get into a TV marriage, the sexuality can kind of go away, and Kyle and I were clear from the beginning that that wasn’t something we were going to play. It’s funny—I think in the second episode we shot a sex scene, and it was disastrous. But my point is, we didn’t need to play scenes like that; there was just a constant sense that these people were still really turned on by each other.

Connie Britton Joins Cast of “Seeking A Friend for the End of the World”

Production begins this week on Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, written and directed by Lorene Scafaria. The pre-apocalyptic comedy stars Golden Globe Award winner Steve Carell and Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley.

Confirmed as joining the two lead actors in the cast are – in alphabetical order - Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights), Adam Brody (Damsels in Distress),Roger Aaron Brown (The District), Tonita Castro (The Sarah Silverman Program), Rob Corddry (Mandate’sHarold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo), two-time Academy Award nominee Melinda Dillon (Close Encounters of the Third Kind), Rob Huebel (Human Giant), Gillian Jacobs (Community), Derek Luke(Focus’ Catch a Fire), Melanie Lynskey (Focus’ Away We Go), T.J. Set in a too-near future, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World explores what people will do when humanity’s last days are at hand. Can one man find his greatest love at the worst possible time? As the respective journeys of Dodge (Mr. Carell) and Penny (Ms. Knightley) converge, the two spark to each other and their outlooks – if not the world’s – brighten.

Jessica Lange Cast Opposite Connie Britton in “American Horror Story”

Jessica Lange has been cast as Constance, the nosy neighbor, in Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s FX drama pilot American Horror Story.

The thriller, which revolves around husband and wife Ben and Vivien Harmon (Friday Night Lights’ Connie Britton), sees the couple move into a creepy San Francisco home next door to Constance (Lange) and her daughter with Down Syndrome who knows more about the house than everyone realizes.
