Peter Berg Tells TCA Panel That An FNL Movie Script Is Being Written!

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

Friday Night Lights exec producer Peter Berg is confirming what TVLine told you last month: He wants to bring the franchise back to the big screen, with Emmy nominees Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton reprising their roles as Coach and Tami Taylor.

“We’re writing a script,” he told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour following a panel for his NBC reboot of Prime Suspect. “We’ve been meeting with [fellow FNLEP] Jason Katims for the last couple of weeks. We have a real good script idea. We want to do it. We’re very serious about doing it. We intend to do it.”

Grantland’s Oral History of Friday Night Lights

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

Hopefully most of you are familiar with Bill Simmons (The Sports Guy) from ESPN. He’s a huge fan of Friday Night Lights, and often has Peter Berg on his beloved B.S. Report podcast. In the past few months Bill launched a pop culture-sports hash up site that folks like Chuck Klosterman and Malcolm Gladwell contribute to. This past week one of the writers created an oral history of Friday Night Lights with quotes from cast and crew members. It’s not only sentimental, but a beautiful glance at a wonderful show. Please check it out at the link below, and start crossing your fingers for the Emmys!

The cast of Pretty Little Liars made the biggest splash in the TV categories, winning the Cast to Watch award (from presenter Katerina Graham) and inducing a cackling fugue state among the YHA’s tween-filled audience. “I love you!” hollered one balcony tween, interrupting Troian Bellisario at the microphone. Lucy Hale, Ashley Benson, and Shay Mitchell faithfully stood by and waved at hollerers. Aimee Teegarden also picked up a trophy for TV Actress of the Year for her work on Friday Night Lights, a show that all good people still miss.

Quotes from Episode 5.06 “Swerve”

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

  • Billy (to a defeated, drunk Luke): When was the last time you enjoyed playing football? Were you worried about scholarships when you were eight years old?
  • Tami: She’s humiliated and ashamed.
    Eric: She better be!
Tami: Our daughter is broken right now. She needs our compassion.
  • Coach Taylor: It’s come to my attention that all of you branded yourselves with – what was it? A salad fork?
Hastings: It was a hanger, sir. Mr. Kingmaker, sir.
  • Jess: I’ve gotta run
Vince: Yah me too – 3 miles!
Jess: Oh, well try not to trip over your ego when you’re running!

Entertainment Weekly’s Ken Tucker Reviews 5.05 “Kingdom”

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

The Lions went on a road trip this week on Friday Night Lights, amped on their own team spirit and the blunt advice from Coach Taylor on how to avoid trouble on the field with their away-game opponents, the racist Rangers: Stop “playing with vengeance”; stop making “mental mistakes”; and “stay away from dumb, gentlemen.” As always, Coach offers words we all might live by. That, plus some classic Kyle Chandler moments, when you think he’s going to be sincere and then, poker-faced, he lets Coach go over-the-top with the same even yet vehement tone: “My way is the right way, the good way… The way to salvation!”
