Fancast: Matt Bar to Appear on FNL

Posted by Amy with No Comments

Thank you, Matt, for answering my question! For all my fellow One Tree Hill fans, you’ll remember him as Ian Banks, Peyton’s stalker.

Please, can you tell me who got cast as the Habitat for Humanity guy in Episodes 9 and 10 of ‘Friday Night Lights’? (You can see a few pictures of him here.) He looks like a new diversion for Julie. – Amy

Yes, judging by the kiss he’s leaning in for in that one pic, I’d say that sexual tension as well as a two-bedroom house is being built there. I can confirm that Matt Barr plays Ryan Lowry in those two episodes, airing January 13 and 20 on DirecTV. In addition to his run as ‘Harper’s Island’s’ Sully, Barr recently guest-starred on NBC’s ‘Trauma’ – which is exec-produced by ‘FNL’ creator Peter Berg.

NBC - Friday Night Lights

Dallas based talent Colton Walsh has been booked for a featured role on the hit show Friday Night Lights! He plays one of the football players on the characters team.

Here’s what Colton had to say:

“I auditioned for friday night lights on August 28th in Del Valle in Austin texas. I made the Dillion panthers and the colors are white and gold and blue dillion is the center of the series. I play a core football player im a tightend and my number is 91, I’m the tallest guy on the team so im not hard to miss. I am also in school scenes like the hallways and lunch room and peprally scenes. I am really enjoying it! The crew and cast like the way I work with everyone and they are wanting to bring me back next season for season 5.”

Kevin Rankin on the Herc-Street Bromance

Posted by Amy with No Comments

PW: This is the second series you’re on where you play one half of a bromance (with Cameron on “Trauma” and Street on “FNL”), what is it about you that just attracts these parts?

Kevin: [laughs] I don’t know. I think Scott [Porter] and Derek [Luke] are just great guys and better actors. I actually think my bromance with Scott on “FNL” was one of the reasons they brought me over to “Trauma.” It really shows the fluidity of a paramedic and EMT’s partnership. What I love about this kind of relationship is that it’s not just a friendship, it’s an intimacy between two people where sex isn’t involved. Although when I found out Derek was hired to play Cameron, I thought they would recast me since they could get anyone to act opposite him. It’s such an honor.

PW: Well, you two have a lot to live up to — Herc and Street were kinda the best best friends ever.

Kevin: It’s funny, I remember when they wanted to create drama between them. I was so afraid they’d break us up. But it was such a fun role — but now, whenever someone recognizes me, I think it’s kind of a disappointment for them. They’re always so bummed I’m not in the chair.

First Cuts: Nnamdi Asomugha Appearing on Friday Night Lights

Posted by Amy with No Comments

Raiders Pro Bowl corner Nnamdi Asomugha will apparently appear in an episode of Friday Night Lights this season, according to two members of the cast I spoke with on Thursday in Austin. Asomugha’s role is just a cameo, trying to get a troubled member of Eric Taylor’s new team, the East Dillon Lions, back onto the right side of the law. (The character in question is Vince, played by Michael B. Jordan.)
