Peter Berg Tells TCA Panel That An FNL Movie Script Is Being Written!

Friday Night Lights exec producer Peter Berg is confirming what TVLine told you last month: He wants to bring the franchise back to the big screen, with Emmy nominees Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton reprising their roles as Coach and Tami Taylor.

“We’re writing a script,” he told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour following a panel for his NBC reboot of Prime Suspect. “We’ve been meeting with [fellow FNLEP] Jason Katims for the last couple of weeks. We have a real good script idea. We want to do it. We’re very serious about doing it. We intend to do it.”

Pete Berg Wants to Make Another FNL Movie With Chandler and Britton

Friday Night Lights may be coming to a theater near you — again.

Executive Producer Peter Berg, who directed the original film on which the NBC series is based, confirms to TVGuide.com that he is developing aFriday Night Lights movie. A man of few words, Berg merely states, “I am,” when asked if he’s developing the film to continue the story of Coach and Tami Taylor (Kyle Chandler andConnie Britton, respectively).

News of a possible film came out on Thursday when Grantland.com editor in chief Bill Simmons tweeted, “Peter Berg told us he wants to do anFNL movie with Chandler/Britton off the final episode.”

Peter Berg to Direct Taylor Kitsch in New Film “Lone Survivor”

EXCLUSIVE: Fresh from steeringBattleship, Peter Berg and Universal Pictures are moving right into a January start date on Lone Survivor, an adaptation of the book by Marcus Luttrell. The film tells the harrowing story of how he and his Navy SEAL team members fought to stay alive after being ambushed in Afghanistan in 2005 by Taliban forces during a covert mission in the Hindu Kush mountain region, where the team went to kill a terrorist leader. Berg has asked his Battleship star Taylor Kitsch to play one of four SEAL team members who fight for their lives. After meeting actors for the past two weeks, Berg will set the rest of the quartet soon.

Peter Berg To Direct Pilot of “Prime Suspect” Reboot

Maria Bello will star in NBC’s Prime Suspect, the Us version of the British show, reports Variety. Alexandra Cunningham wrote the pilot where Bello will portray a detective in a tough New York precinct dominated by men; a role originated by Helen Mirren. Cunninghan is executive producing the show with Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey, folks behind the winningFriday Night Lights. Berg, known for films like The RundownFriday Night LightsThe Kingdomand Hancock, is also directing the pilot.

FAVAH and HIFF Present An Evening with Peter Berg

The Film and Video Association of Hawaii (FAVAH) and The Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) is proud to announce an evening with Peter Berg.

Peter Berg (director) has enjoyed success as a writer, director, producer and actor who most recently directed the 2009 action hit, “Hancock,” starring Will Smith in the title role….

In addition to his current project which is filming in Hawaii, Universal’s BATTLESHIP, the New York native (and son of a Naval historian) is also developing several projects under his Film 44 banner, including another Middle Eastern thriller, “Lone Survivor,”the film adaptation of Marcus Luttrell’s gut-wrenching true tale of an ambush by Taliban forces in Afghanistan that killed Luttrell’s three Navy SEAL comrades and nearly cost him his own life.

Liam Neeson To Play Taylor Kitsch’s Future In-Law in Battleship

SWOON CITY. I love Liam…I loved Liam way before I knew who Taylor was. So.Awesome.

Liam Neeson (Taken) will play Admiral Shane in Universal’s action-adventure movie Battleship, it was announced today. Neeson will star alongside Friday Night Lights’ Taylor Kitsch, who will play Hopper, a Naval officer assigned to the USS John Paul Jones who is Shane’s future son-in-law. The cast also includes Brooklyn Decker (Ugly Betty) as Shane’s daughter, Sam; Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood) as Hopper’s older brother, Commanding Officer Stone of the  USS Samson; and Rihanna as Lt. Raikes, Hopper’s crew mate and a weapons specialist.

Confirmed: Jesse Plemons Has Joined Battleship Cast

We posted about this a few months ago, but I guess it’s for realsies now!

Starzlife has learned EXCLUSIVELY that Friday Night Lights actor Jesse Plemons has just left Los Angeles to travel to Hawaii to join the cast of the upcoming Peter Berg film, Battleship.

The production of the new film is set to begin on August 30 in Hawaii and Plemons will be joining  Berg, who produces the Friday Night Lights’ series and fellow FNL co-star Taylor Kitsch, who are both attached to the film.

Update: Decker to Play Kitsch’s Love Interest in Battleship

Thanks to one of our readers we found out that the JustJared article we posted earlier was inaccurate and Brooklyn Decker will actually play Taylor Kitsch’s love interest, not sister in the film Battleship:

Decker will serve as the love interest for the lead naval officer in the film, who will be played by Kitsch.  The model/actress recently completed filming a role in director Dennis Dugan’s comedy Just Go With It in Hawaii – as it were, production on Battleship will begin there in just a few weeks.

Brooklyn Decker to Play Taylor Kitsch’s Sis in Berg’s “Battleship”

Brooklyn Decker has been cast in the upcoming action-adventure Battleship, in theaters May 2012.

The 23-year-old Sports Illustrated cover model will star alongside Rihanna and on-screen brothers Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights) and Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood).

The flick, which will be helmed by actor/director Peter Berg, is based on the adaptation of Hasbro’s naval combat board game. The naval fleet that must defend their planet from alien invaders

Peter Berg’s Film 44 To Produce “Rockford Files” Reboot

Peter Berg and Sarah Aubrey’s Film 44 is becoming a key player in NBC’s development plans for next season with 3 high-profile projects. Last week, the company took over NBC’ drama pilot Prime Suspect. Now I hear Berg and Aubrey are also coming on board NBC’ other big reboot, The Rockford Files, which is expected to film a new pilot. Additionally, Film 44 is developing a drama about political campaigners written by Dirty Sexy Money creator Craig Wright.
