Peter Berg’s Film 44 to Produce “Prime Suspect” for NBC

According to Deadline.com FNL’s Peter Berg is now attached to a new crime show that will most likely premiere on NBC as a mid-season replacement. Now that Berg has wrapped FNL and his other show Trauma has been canceled he is taking on new projects (other than Battleship).

Primetime entertainment president Angela Bromstad said the network has extended its production deal with Peter Berg’s Film 44, which will now take over the NBC pilot for Prime Suspect, which the network plans to shoot off-cycle.

Rihanna Joins Berg, Kitsch & Plemons for “Battleship”

Rihanna is ready to hit the big screen. The 22-year-old singer has been cast as the female lead in the upcoming filmBattleship, USA TODAY’s Cindy Clark reports. She will star alongside Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights) and Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood).

Is Jesse Plemons Joining Cast of Battleship?

According to Jesse Plemons’ IMDb page it appears that he will be joining forces with his old friends from Friday Night Lights: Pete Berg and Taylor Kitsch for their upcoming film Battleship.

Production on the movie is slated to begin in August 2010 in Hawaii.

I’m starting to get invested in this film now. How is everyone else feeling?

Alexander Skarsgard to Play Taylor Kitsch’s Brother in “Battleship”

For those of you that enjoy fun facts as much as I do, here’s one: this is the SECOND True Blood/Friday Night Lights crossover! The first being Mr. Grey Damon (Hastings).

Alexander Skarsgard is going from vampires to naval board games.

The “True Blood” star has signed to star opposite Taylor Kitsch in “Battleship,” Universal’s sci-fi tentpole adaptation of the Hasbro game.

Peter Berg (“Hancock”) is directing the action-adventure movie, which adds an “alien invasion” element to the screen story. The script, by Jon and Erich Hoeber, revolves around an international fleet coming together to battle a water-bound armada of otherworldly origin.

Taylor Kitsch & Peter Berg to Begin Filming Battleship in August

Director Peter Berg’s Universal-backed actioner “Battleship,” based on the venerable Hasbro toy, is prepping to start shooting at Baton Rouge’s Celtic Studios in August, one of a handful of new projects to show up on the latest list of in-state film production activity provided by Louisiana Entertainment, the state’s film office.

Taylor Kitsch (”Wolverine”) is set to star in Berg’s (”Hancock,” “The Kingdom“) film, which reportedly will focus on an international navy that unites to defeat a mysterious enemy. (Translation: “Aaahhh! Aliens!”)

“Battleship” is set for a May 25, 2012, release.

Friday Night Lights is an American television series adapted by Peter Berg, Brian Grazer and David Nevins from a book and film of the same name. The series details events surrounding the Dillon Panthers, a high school football team based in fictional Dillon, Texas, with particular focus given to the team’s coach, Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler) and his family. The show uses this small-town backdrop to address many issues facing contemporary Middle America.
