IESB Talks to Scott Porter about Caprica, Friday Night Lights & The Good Guy

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

IESB: I understand that you’ll be in a new TV show as a lead actor.

Scott: Yeah, we just shot a pilot in Thailand for CW called Nomads. It’s about these backpackers in Southeast Asia there for various reasons. Mine happens to be looking for his brother who has disappeared six months ago. He gets roped into running illegal information for the CIA. Until one day, my character gets taken and interrogated, so he gets drawn into being more than just being a runner for the CIA. It’s a conspiracy action show. It’s going to be very cool.

IESB: It’s like a drama spy show?

Scott: It’s not so much like a spy show. The pilot is like Marathon Man where Dustin Hoffman gets taken and doesn’t know why he has been taken at that point in time. It’s that type of show. He gets roped into this weird group of people, who has been working with the CIA and not actual agents. And he is in the part of a world where he shouldn’t be there. It will slowly unravel and explain on why everyone is there. It’s more kind of Alias without the superspy. Lots of question marks. Lots of cool actions.

IESB: When is Nomads supposed to premiere?

Scott: We’ll know on May 20 whether we get picked up for a series or not. We shot the pilot and it looks gorgeous. Now we just sit and wait.

IESB: Talk about your role on Friday Night Lights.

Scott: Jason Street wasn’t around in the fourth season, but he is coming back in the fifth season to make a closing appearance on the last year of the show. We knew at the end of season three that we were going to get another twenty-six episodes. We had the ability to know that the end is coming and to write for that. So we’re giving our fans closure with every person that has been on the show. I’m excited to see everyone come back. Jason Street will come back for a few episodes.

EW’s Ausiello Answers about Scott Porter and Gaius Charles in Season 5

Posted by Kaitlin with 1 Comment

Oh look, my question was answered in this weeks Ask Ausiello on Entertainment Weekly’s site! This is my first appearance there! I’ve made it on to Watch with Kristin over at E! twice before. It’s the small things, ya know? :)

Question: I’m hearing that Scott Porter and Gaius Charles will both be reprising their roles on Friday Night Lights in season 5. Any truth to this? —Kaitlin
Ausiello:
It’s true that Jason Katims wants them back. But it remains to be seen if he’ll get his wish. “We have ideas for Gaius Charles and Scott Porter, as well as other [former MVPs] like Adrianne Palicki and Zach Gilford,” says FNL’s boss. “If this is the final season, we want to build toward an ending that will honor all the seasons of the show. We particularly want to come up with something for the Taylor family that feels organic as an ending and [harkens back] to the first moments of the pilot.”

Casting Update on Scott Porter’s “Nomads”

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

NOMADS (The CW) – Luke Ford (”McLeod’s Daughters”) has joined the cast of the drama pilot, about a group of nearly broke young backpackers traveling the world who agree to earn money by working secret missions for the CIA. He’s on board as one of them, Zack Morgan, “a shaggy blonde 20’s Aussie surfer dude with the good nature (and sex drive) of a Labrador Retriever.” Michaela McManus, Scott Porter and Warren Kole also star in the presentation, which comes from CBS Television Studios, Scott Free Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Ken Sanzel is directing off his own script.

TV Guide Reports Scott Porter/Street Likely Back for Season 5

Posted by Kaitlin with No Comments

Friday Night Lights alum Scott Porter says he’s heard from the show’s producers that his paraplegic character, Jason Street, will likely be wheeling back to Dillon, Texas for the show’s soon-to-shoot, fifth and likely final season. “I’m hoping it turns into a definite because I’d love to go back,” says Scott. “I’m hoping he could repay his debts – particularly to Riggins for everything he did for Street.”

Tim Riggins (Taylor Kitsch) sure could use some help, as the current season (SPOILER ALERT!) Read the rest of this entry »
