Emmy nominated actress Connie Britton and Taylor Kitsch of NBC’s “Friday Night Lights” team up to host the African Children’s Choir’s upcoming benefit, “Texas Tunes Into Africa” on March 23, 2011. Sponsored by Microsoft and Texas based, family owned Whataburger, the entertainment at the event will feature performances by the choir and favorite Texas musicians: Sara Hickman and Family Time Rocks, Kacy Crowley, Guy Forsyth and Tracie Lynn and other surprise guests. Presenting the event with the African Children’s Choir is Austin-based EMPACT Africa, a non-profit organization that trains pastors in sub-saharan Africa to fight the stigma and discrimination of HIV/AIDS.
The African Children’s Choir boasts several choirs which travel the world to perform and inspire. The choir’s goal is to rebuild countries by offering an education to children whose lives have been devastated by famine, violence and HIV/AIDS. This particular choir hails from Uganda, with children from 8-11 years of age.
