Grantland’s Oral History of Friday Night Lights

Hopefully most of you are familiar with Bill Simmons (The Sports Guy) from ESPN. He’s a huge fan of Friday Night Lights, and often has Peter Berg on his beloved B.S. Report podcast. In the past few months Bill launched a pop culture-sports hash up site that folks like Chuck Klosterman and Malcolm Gladwell contribute to. This past week one of the writers created an oral history of Friday Night Lights with quotes from cast and crew members. It’s not only sentimental, but a beautiful glance at a wonderful show. Pete Berg Wants to Make Another FNL Movie With Chandler and Britton

Friday Night Lights may be coming to a theater near you — again.

Executive Producer Peter Berg, who directed the original film on which the NBC series is based, confirms to TVGuide.com that he is developing aFriday Night Lights movie. A man of few words, Berg merely states, “I am,” when asked if he’s developing the film to continue the story of Coach and Tami Taylor (Kyle Chandler andConnie Britton, respectively).

News of a possible film came out on Thursday when Grantland.com editor in chief Bill Simmons tweeted, “Peter Berg told us he wants to do anFNL movie with Chandler/Britton off the final episode.”

I’m in the Los Angeles area getting into some damn traffic on the 101 right now.

Ouch. Be careful! So let's talk FNL! Tell me about your last day on set. Were there tears?

I cried like a little baby. I was a little choked up. It was, you know…have you seen the last episode?

Oh yeah, I saw it a while ago. I’m obsessed with the show.

Yeah, I just never know. Some of the people I’ve been talking to, they’ve purposely not watched it on DirectTV and wanted to pace it out and watch it as it airs on NBC, so I don’t want to spoil anything.

It wasn’t on the TVLine list that I saw but Jason Katims was nominated for the outstanding finale, Always.

We’re ecstatic! They got nominations in Outstanding Drama, Connie for Outstanding Actress and Kyle for Outstanding Actor! Congrats!!

Adrianne Palicki Joins new G.I. Joe Flick

NBC may not have picked up “Wonder Woman” but Adrianne Palicki is gearing up for action regardless, as the “Friday Night Lights” thesp has joined the cast of Paramount’s “G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes.”

Palicki will play Lady Jaye, the squad’s covert ops specialist who can handle a crossbow and has a knack for impersonation. In the Marvel comic book and Sunbow animated series, the character also has a romance with warrant officer Flint, who Variety recently revealed will be played by D.J. Cotrona (”Detroit 1-8-7″).
